In addition to problems with distribution to remote areas, predominantly Muslim Indonesia is facing growing hesitation about the vaccine from many who believe the shots are not Sinovac due to Chinese production is not “Halal” or permitted under Islamic law, although the Indonesian Ulema Council, the highest body of Islam, has said any vaccine is allowed.
