Nintendo has released patch 2.0.3 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The patch was released on November 23rd and resolves two issues in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise DLC.
The first solves an issue where players can duplicate items in a specific method. The second one fixes the problem with the same character appearing twice on the island Where is Paradise Planning located?.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 2.0.3 Patch Notes
Fixed an issue where items could be copied through a specific method.
Fixed an issue where the same character could appear twice on the island where the Paradise Plan was located.
This is the 3rd update since release Happy Home Paradise DLC and 4th Master Update in November. In most cases, the update will be installed automatically. However, to double check, players can go into System Settings on their Switch, select Data Management, then Software Management, and finally select Animal Crossing: New Horizons to see the version listed. This patch is version 2.0.3.
The mentioned exploit can still be used as long as the player does not have the latest update installed. As it stands, there’s not much reason to install the update as there’s no new content and nothing game-breaking has been resolved. The mentioned bug can be used by accessing the Room Sketch application that can be installed on the player’s NookPhone. Once the app is open, place the items on the wall where the window is and then turn on the window for the room. This “tricks” the game into thinking that the items have actually been placed on the wall and not just in the app. This will then return said items to the player once the window is opened, effectively duplicating them.
It seems unusual for Nintendo to release another patch so quickly, but considering what it fixes, it’s understandable why it’s in such a rush to update. Things like this can lead an island’s economy astray. While there will be no impact on other players if one or more people decide to exploit it, it goes against the essence of the game. Nintendo isn’t alone in taking down exploits like these quickly. After all, it could hurt the game’s long-term viability if the player suddenly became indebted to the curator of tanoki, Tom Nook. This is something that led to some of the initial drop in players before patch 2.0 and Happy Homes Paradise DLC press, enhance the player’s interest in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For better or worse, the update is out now and available to download.
