Fox News host Tucker Carlson has hit back against CNN host Jim Acosta over his latest criticisms as the pair continue their spat.
Carlson accused Acosta of being the “dumbest news anchor in the country” and reflected on the reaction the CNN host had to an interview he conducted.
Carlson said: “The beauty of Fox Nation is that it can’t be censored. There are no advertisers, the tech monopolies have no control whatsoever. Google, Facebook and Twitter are not involved. You can say exactly what you think is true on Fox Nation.
“That fact, the fact there is no leash to control us, drives the rest of corporate media insane. It is probably why CNN’s Jim Acosta, reportedly the dumbest anchor in the United States, confronted Andrew Yang recently. Andrew Yang spoke to us on Fox Nation and according to Jim Acosta that is not allowed.”
This is in reference to when Acosta challenged Yang, a former presidential and New York City mayoral candidate, to explain why he went on the show back in October despite Carlson praising the writings of Ted Kaczynski, the domestic terrorist known as the Unabomber.
During this exchange, Yang defended his actions and said that it was important to reach out to both sides of the political spectrum in order to unify them against what is not working in the current political system.
Carlson’s most recent attack on Acosta comes days after the CNN host took aim at the Fox News host for his comments on Vice President, Kamala Harris. Acosta gave him the title of “bulls*** factory employee of the year” for his conduct over 2021.
Acosta played the clip of Carlson speaking about Harris in which he said: “There is a lot that we don’t know about Kamala Harris. Most people probably don’t know that she really grew up in Canada. That is where she went to high school, she is not from this country in that sense or she is certainly also from Canada. Okay, didn’t know that, that doesn’t mean she won’t be a good vice president but why haven’t we heard that?”
Acosta added: “Yes, Tucker Carlson your suggestion that Kamala Harris isn’t quite American because she spent part of her childhood in Canada has put you over the top.
“We once honored you with the distinction of bulls*** factory employee of the month but now that 2021 is coming to an end, we decided to recognize you as our first ever bulls*** factory employee of the year. That is right Tucker, you earned it.”
Acosta went on to criticise the Fox News host and accuse him of spreading misinformation regarding the coronavirus pandemic and serving as a “mouthpiece” for some white supremacists.
He said: “You have just spent the past year peddling vaccine conspiracy theories about Bill Gates. You have served as a mouthpiece for white supremacists who embrace the great replacement theory.
“You also spread the false flag conspiracy theory that Trump supporters were not responsible for the insurrection on January 6, only to contradict yourself days later. Now your latest lowlight, you had a crew embedded with Kyle Rittenhouse during his trial, yes, during his trial.”
Newsweek has contacted both Carlson and Acosta for comment.
